Val Medel
Switzerland
The Val Medel is a righthand side valley of the Surselva valley in Graubünden, Switzerland. It is approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) long and stretches from Disentis (1,100 m (3, 600 ft) above sea level) to the south, where it ends at Lai da Sontga Maria reservoir on Lukmanier Pass (906 m (2, 972 ft) above sea level). There is a road through the valley and over Lukmanier Pass into Ticino. The lower 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) of the valley contains a narrow gorge, known as the Medelserschluch or Las Ruinas, which widens to the green and fertile Trog valley at the village of Curaglia.
