The Government College University, Lahore also known by its acronym GCU is a public research university in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Founded as Government College, Lahore, in 1864 under the British Raj, it was granted university status in 2002. It is considered one of the most prestigious institutions in Pakistan.
