Bayt al-Saqqā

Al-Saqqa House (or Al-Saqqa Palace) was a 17th-century house in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood in the market in the eastern suburb of Gaza City. It was built in 1661, during the reign of Sultan Mehmed IV. It is an example of Mamluk architecture. It was built by Ahmed Al-Saqqa, a merchant. His family descended Aqil ibn Abi Talib, a cousin of Muhammad. The house was destroyed on November 10, 2023, during an airstrike carried out by the Israeli Air Force, during the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip during the Gaza war.
