Zeche Ewald
Herten, Germany
The Ewald Colliery (Zeche Ewald) is a disused coal mine in Herten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Established in 1872, it was one of several major mining sites in the heavily industrialized Ruhr district in northwestern Germany during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The site eventually ceased operations as a mine in 2001 and has since been converted to commercial space.
